First Flight understands that successful business requires strong management. The quality of decision making and the leadership of the entire board is key to this. We have compiled a range of useful information and literature which we hope will be useful.
Government-led reviews in the last 4-5 years were the pre-cursor of the Combined Code on Corporate Governance, which stipulates the recruitment of at least two Non-Executive Directors for every board. The mid size sector is estimated to comprise 4,300 private companies, of which less than 20% have to date recruited NXDs.

There is very little good quality in depth research on Non-Executive Directors in unquoted companies. First Flight asked MM & K, a top London form of Consultants, to carry out this comprehensive research which is now available to all our registrants.
The 20 page survey is different from other surveys in that:
- it covers the views of directors of nearly 500 companies which include many AIM and PLUS companies, so it is credible;
- the data is collected from the directors themselves; it is their views;
- it is unique and contains a great deal of fascinating information never before researched;
- it covers unquoted companies of which over half have less than £10 million turnover.
