Non-Exec one day Workshop - held on 12 November at the Institute of Directors, London

First Flight recently held its first One Day Workshop for Non-Exec Directors at the IoD in London.  All the delegates agreed that it was an extremely interesting and worthwhile day and that the Course Leader Terry Waymouth presented in clear and simple language in a lively and interesting way.

Areas covered included:

Board structure, strategy, delegating to management and overseeing performance, effective Corporate Governance and highlights of the Higgs and Walker reviews.

Non-Execs who also invest in their companies were covered and solicitors Morgan Cole highlighted 20 very good reasons for having a Shareholder's Agreement.  Finally, Brit Insurance covered the subject of Directors & Officers insurance.

Some of the delegate's comments:

"I learned that there is more to learn! - I wanted to just say thank you for organising the excellent workshop last week at the IOD which I found most helpful. There were some very valuable information and it has certainly stimulated me into action on some of my existing directorships!

"What a useful day - covered a lot of ground in a very practical and relevant context."

"Very useful presentation and explanation of the need for D&O cover, the implication and what to look for in a policy. Good real worked examples. Very useful revision of Directors roles and responsibilities. All new and long serving NEDs/EDs would find this course invaluable."

"This seminar has been particularly useful to me as I am planning to return to the UK and this has brought me up to date. Very motivating level of detail was about right."

"Valuable event to attend - well done!  An excellent day's course - expert presenters covered a lot of ground in easily understandable language. Good to also draw on the experiences of other attendees, across sectors and backgrounds."
